Fare thee well

This man reminds me of my first Doctor, Dr. Robin, who had a bald head and a massive beard, when i was about 5 i remember asking my mum once why his hair fell off his head onto his chin.

But anyway this guy is not Doctor Robin he is William Fitzsimmons and this is a beautiful song.

TEA again

blazer:H&M

There is no trouble so great or grave that cannot be much diminished by a nice cup of tea.  ~Bernard-Paul Heroux

Since i moved away from england (four and a half years ago) i have developed such a love for Tea,  it is THE most comforting thing in the world when things aren't going quite the way i would like it to. My German friends are constantly telling how i totally fit into the British cliché but i tell thee there is a reason why and that reason is that tea is my medicine:)

Love

Oh i do love to be beside the seaside

Although everybody knows that Marilyn Monroe was a stunner, I had to share a few finds of the lady, she has such an beautifully natural vibe on all of these photos, and not the typical diva-caked-in-make-up look that one normally associates with her.

Like a map with no ocean

I had the good fortune to see this young gentleman live in november and it was instant love:) its amazing to see someone who is so young talented and full of energy do his thing. He oozes self confidence as long as he is playing and as soon as he stops  he is like a fish out of water, totally awkward and unbelievably shy and modest.

Settle down

A CUPPA

Today has been a somewhat emotionally harrowing day, after a crazy hectic week. I have to say I am so happy to be sitting in my bed right now, listening to Avis Avidan and drinking a rather delicious mixture of orange pekoe and Earl Grey from a gigantic red cup that is so large i cant see over its rim while drinking.
Now thats what i call satifaction.

DIY- tribal Asymmetrical skirt made from a mans shirt

so, a few weeks ago, I was given a big bag full of clothes from my flatmate and good friend michi, which I was supposed to donate to the kids the childrens home where i work this happened around the same time as I baught my sewing machine, and half of the things in the bag got turned into other things, so the poor kids only got half of the stuff they should have...:S

I was particularly happy with this Asymetrical skirt that i made out of a mans shirt.

Tutorial:
I started off my cutting the arms off the shirt, and removing the collar and shoulder area.

I was then left with a  tube( which one can see below)

I measured the tube on myself, by trying it on inside out and pinning on both sides till it was relatively tight fitting.  I then cut the skirt along the lines where i had pinned the material. Then left one side open and lay it out on the floor in order to cut the Asymetrical from of the skirt(see below) the curved line was then hemmed.
I then hemmed the top of the skirt, I folded over about two inches of material making quite a thick band around the waste

et voila, skirt was finished.I am delighted with the skirt, it looks great teamed with a chunky belt around the waste and with boots.  I loved the button detal on the rear.
I hope this tutorial is somewhat understandable

Tomten

Out of nowhere I had a sudden urge to order all of my favourite childrens books on amazon a few days ago and the first are starting to arrive:)
Tomten and the Fox by Astrid Lindgren came through my door yesterday, and was an absolute hit, when I was really young.
Every advent we had a gnome garden next to the table where we ate our meals, and my mum, who is incredibly skilled with crafty stuff, realised how much i loved the tomten and made a gnome who looked just like him(made out of an old wooly jumper) and the little guy is still going strong.
